Color Stability of PolyVers Aromatic Polyurea

As every formulator will caution, pigmented aromatic polyurea systems will fade with exposure to sunlight. The degree of fade is dependent on the darkness of the pigment, as well as the specific formulation. For example, light colors (white or tan) will show the fade more than darker colors (blue or red). Gray systems have been known to move towards a greenish tint rapidly upon exposure to the sunlight. Exhaustive physical testing of the PolyVers pure polyurea aromatic systems show little loss in physical properties after 3,000 hours in an Atlas Cell. However, PolyVers aromatic systems also provide improved color stability when exposed to sunlight.

One of our customers in Europe manufacture foam chairs which are durable and safe. The tan couch is coated with PV 380,  and the gray chair with PV 350. Each has been exposed to the sun, rain, snow for over 6 months. As you can see, the tan couch not only retains the original color, it remains flexible and tough, despite being outside. The gray chair has remained gray long after being manufactured.
